Following the principles developed in the International Labor Organization’s Conventions, Dole practices non-discriminatory policies and is an equal opportunity employer. It is Dole’s strict policy not to employ children and to instruct its suppliers not to purchase from producers that do. It is also Dole’s policy to work in a constructive manner with the representatives elected by its workers.

Working conditions in Company operations are designed to protect the health, safety and well-being of all Dole employees. Workers on Dole farms are trained to safely apply crop protection products and are required to use the protective clothing appropriate to their activities. Regular reviews of working conditions ensure that Dole’s operations comply with all applicable labor codes. The Company’s independent verification method draws many key elements from ISO 14001, the widely accepted environmental standard, as well as SA 8000, the social accountability standard developed by Social Accountability International.
