Dole Principles

Environment

Dole’s commitment to the environment starts with the goal to find sustainable, environmentally friendly, healthy and safe ways to produce products throughout its worldwide operations.

DoleFor Dole, this commitment was formalized in 1996 with the creation of a strict environmental policy based on compliance with the applicable laws and implementation of Good Agricultural Practices (GAP). This policy was a gateway to the development of organic farming.

In addition, Dole understands that natural resources are valuable but limited. Consequently, it is increasingly crucial for a company like Dole to save water, to limit energy use, to reduce waste and to implement recycling programs whenever possible. Furthermore, the Company has several programs in place to monitor and protect the flora and fauna in its production zones.

Dole employees play an important role in reaching these objectives. They are therefore continuously trained to understand and comply with all the provisions set forth by our environmental policy. In addition, Dole’s environmental programs are monitored through formal and informal audits, pre-harvest residue analyses, and residue monitoring of shipments before delivery to the customer.
